...This is probably a good time for me to expand on the ‘I’.
But before I do, I want you to know that this is the most you will ever hear me talk about myself.
Throughout my career, I have positioned myself as the person behind the principle and the person who interviews the principle. I am a listener and a doer, not a talker. And although I am the person behind the publication, I am not the publication.
This is a collective project.
If none of my interviewees agreed to speak to me (for free), this website wouldn't feature any content (for free).
For my part, I don’t impose myself into the narrative. I am not interested in positioning or branding myself as an ‘influencer’ or a ‘role model’ or worse…a ‘thought leader’. I am about the work. The people I collaborate with are about the work. Not the pedestal.
My name is Zara* and like most climate activists, I am for embracing complexity and speaking to the reality of climate breakdown and the impact it is having on earth and earthlings alike. I am for democratising important information about climate breakdown and that is exactly what we do here.
I believe that accessibility is essential to equity, so all our content is free.
I set out to create a self-learning platform that would be available to anyone with a computer and an internet connection.
A publication that would do right by its contributors and by you...
(*did you just picture the store? Please don’t. I wasn’t named after the Spanish clothing retailer. Fun fact: I got my name from a play written by an activist credited with being the architect of the French revolution…so I like to think I had a little something to do with it.)
